An imminent return or a cruel joke?

Chapter 4

Ananias and Sapphira were a married couple who suffered death from withholding money from a sale of their property. Not from the people, but from God.Everybody was selling their land and possessions and sharing the same purse. These people took this very seriously. They were awaiting the return of Jesus at this point of the story. The point being, they, at that time, were awaiting his return and had sold everything and believed his promise that they would be delivered into the kingdom.

This was still going on after his crucifixion. If this was a cruel joke, it certainly took hold of the people. They still maintained their faith after their master had been slain. Maybe this wasn’t a cruel joke. Maybe they misunderstood when he was returning. Could they have gotten it wrong? Maybe he meant thousands of years from now. Well, that would be a cruel joke.   But why would God be so angry with Ananias and his wife?  Why did Jesus say to prepare? Let’s look and see when Jesus said he would return.  Did he give any clues? Did he make any prophesies about the end? Did he make any bold statements? His reputation as a prophet and the Son of God are hinging on these questions. I believe we can find some answers if we look closely. Either way , I’m only looking for the truth. I believe the Bible holds the absolute truth!

An imminent return or a cruel joke?

Chapter 3                                                                                         A certain ruler came to Jesus and asked, “Good teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?” Jesus said, ” sell all that you have and distribute it to the poor, come follow me.” And Peter said,”Look, we have left everything and followed you.” And Jesus replied, ” Most certainly I tell you, there is no one who has left house,or wife,or brother,or parents,or children, for Kingdom’s sake, who will not receive many times more,in this world, and the world to come, eternal life.”

Jesus just prophesied that whoever sold everything they owned and left property and family behind to follow him would receive eternal life. He was quite serious. All of his followers left everything and sold their possessions, and followed him. That would mean they were at the mercy of God for the remainder of their lives. But not to worry, “God knows what you need, clothes, food, and shelter.”

Jesus says to them,”Don’t seek what you will eat or what you will drink; neither be anxious. For the nations of the world seek after all of these things, but your Father knows that you need these things. But seek God’s kingdom, and these will be added to you. Don’t be afraid, little flock, for it’s your Father’s good will to give you the kingdom. Sell that which you have, and give to the needy.

Jesus clearly told his followers to sell their possessions, the people who were living in those days. They believed the time was at hand. They put their faith in Jesus and trusted he would fulfill his promise. Looking at the number of people who sold everything, it had to be a huge number.  Tens of thousands.

JESUS

The New Testament was written in Greek. This is common knowledge. The Hebrew language was not spoken for over 200 years before Jesus showed up. If all New Testament scriptures were written in Greek, it would stand to reason that Jesus and all his disciples spoke Greek. When they read or quoted scriptures, it was from the Greek Septuagint. His name was never Yeshua or Yahusha. The Hebrew or sacred names movement is a lie to extinguish the name of Jesus. If you want to know Jesus, don’t call him by another name. He probably won’t respond. I wouldn’t respond if someone was calling me by another name.

New Testament

A New Testament is a new covenant. A new covenant is basically a new contract. First century Christianity believed this to be a completion of the mosaic covenant made by the LORD on Mount Sinai through Moses. Jeremiah 31:31 “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, that I shall make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and the house of Judah.” A new covenant means new rules, Jesus Rules.

An imminent return or a cruel joke?

Chapter 2

Did Jesus claim to be a prophet? By definition, a prophet speaks the words of God. Jesus claimed he was the Son of God. He was also claimed by his followers to be the Word of God. He only spoke what his Father told him to say. Quote,” For I spoke not from myself, but the Father who sent me,he gave me a commandment, what a should say,and what I should speak.” I believe this would be a direct claim of being a prophet. And again, he says, “The word which you hear isn’t mine, but the Father’s who sent me.” It’s clear that he believes he is a prophet. His followers also believed that to be true. The only thing that could discredit him as a prophet would be if something didn’t happen in the time he declared. He prophesied many things, let’s look at some of them in the chapter’s to come.

To be clear, if Jesus said something that didn’t come to pass when he claims it would, then it would disqualify him as a prophet.

An imminent return or a cruel joke?

Chapter 1

Let’s start by examining some scriptures. What defines a prophet. Deuteronomy 13, If a prophet or a dreamer of dreams arises among you, and he gives you a sign or a wonder, and the sign or wonder comes to pass,of which he spoke to you, saying, “Let us go after other gods”(which you have not known) “and let us serve them”, you shall not listen to that prophet. That prophet shall be put to death because he has spoken rebellion against Yahweh your God. Deuteronomy 18, I will raise them up a prophet from among the brothers, like you. I will put my words in his mouth, and he shall speak to them all that I command him. It shall happen, that whoever will not listen to my words, which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him. But a prophet who speaks presumptuously in my name, which I have not commanded him to speak, or speaks in the name of other gods, that same prophet shall die. You may say in your heart,     “How shall we know the word Yahweh has not spoken? When a prophet speaks in Yahweh’s name, and the thing doesn’t follow, nor happen, that is the thing Yahweh has not spoken.

A true prophet speaks on behalf of God, and the things he speaks must happen when he says they will,on time,or he is a false prophet, and the word of God is not in him. This seems to be clear and understandable. Let’s move on. Let’s look at Jesus and see if he prophesied an imminent return.

Torah?

Conclusion; Jesus set up a new covenant with his death, burial, and resurrection. He removed the stumbling block, the Torah, that was a burden for his people. This is the good news! This is the gospel of truth. This is why the pharisees wanted him dead. Jesus opened the door, and we have direct contact with the Father through Jesus Christ. To all the fake jews in Israel today who reject Jesus and want to put us back under the curse, nice try, but I’m not buying it.

Torah?

#5 The Torah says,”You shall not murder,” but I tell you that everyone who is angry with his brother, without a cause, is in danger of judgment. The Torah says, ” An eye  for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,” but I tell you,” Whoever strikes you on your right cheek, turn to him the other also.” The Torah says, ‘You shall not make false vows ,’ but I tell you not to swear at all.’ The Torah says,’ You shall love your neighbor’, but I tell you,’ love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you .’ Jesus is clearly giving new commands in contrast to the Torah.

Torah?

#4 “Sacrifices and offerings and whole burnt offerings and sacrifices for sins you didn’t desire, neither had pleasure in them” (those which are offered according to the law). Then he has said, “Behold, I have come to do your will,to take away the first, ( Torah) and establish the second,( Faith in Jesus ). Jesus of Nazareth.
